I recently purchased a new computer running Windows Vista Home Basic with 512mb of random memory. I had planned to have the machine upgraded to 1mb, but forgot. After I got the computer home and told the salesman about this, he offered to install an additional 512mb for $20 plus the cost of the memory... but I'd need to take the computer to the store. Then I found out about ReadyBoost. I researched and purchased the Corsair TurboFlash 1gb. When I "installed" it, Windows suggested that I use 800mb of the 1gb for the extra memory. I did as recommended and noticed that large files loaded faster. It doesn't perform miracles, but it certainly helps speed up my machine. Maybe I'll purchase a larger one sometime in the future. I can always use this one as a regular travel/flash/jump/thumb drive when I do.
