4GB Flash Drive USB 2.0

Let me start by saying that I'm a fan of Imation products.
I bought this device to match my existing 1GB imation thumbdrive.
Amazon did a wonderful job on price, and the shipping was very quick.
My low rating is due to the poor description and photo for this item.

I buy Imation thumbdrives because I want a device with a write protect switch, its pivotal in my line of work.
Sadly this device doesn't have a write protect switch as is implied by the stock photo.
In fact it doesn't even look like the photo.

Do your homework before buying these devices or you will be disappointed as well.

Don't buy from PC Universe for the advertised $9.03 (if it is still there) because they will simply cancel your order. I thought the deal too good to be true (yet they wouldn't honor the price). Hopefully you are reading this review and it makes absolutely no sense because PC Universe has retracted the Imation 4 GB thumb drive for $9.03 ($6.98 S&H) from this site.

What a seemingly great deal! A very nicely designed flash drive with a software security feature. Just plug and play with simple security for you data. Just what I thought I needed till I tried to unlock my files on a second feature--nothing doing. So far I have had to wipe and reformat the drive using the provided software so that it will work on each computer.

I found that when you wipe and redo the drive on each new computer the software installs a small program on the host computer to allow you to unlock the secure portion on that computer. I would never have bought it if I knew that. I have to use public accessible computers regularly for school. I can't go around wiping the drive and installing software each time I have to use a new computer. The advertising and literature lead me to believe that it would work on any computer.
