This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager GT 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB-64GBGT (Personal Computers) Let's get this right out, this drive is fast, VERY fast. I'm getting sustained write speeds of 16-18 megs a second. That blows just about everything else out of the water. At 64 gigs, it's also huge. Physically, the drive is a bit large, about 50% larger than Sandisk's Cruzer Micro drives, however, this Corsair is also 5 times faster. When you're transferring 16 to 20 gigs at a time, the speed difference is vast. Dislikes? There's no place to store the rubber end-cap, a great recipe for getting it lost. Also, the entire drive is made from thick rubber; it's great because it's virtually indestructible, it's not so great because it is an utter fuzz magnet. Take it out of your pocket and it's covered in dust, lint and that fuzzy pocket crap. Lastly, there are no external markings saying what the capacity is; therefore if you have several drives of different capacities, (say a 16gb and 32gb) there's no quick way to tell them apart. This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager GT 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB-64GBGT (Personal Computers) It's a bit longer then the other Corsair flash drives but understandable since it's one of the largest (in capacity) in the series. Was very easy to reformat to NTFS on WinXP to allow the storage of large files (4+ GB). Use it on several WinXP and Win7 machines; no issues whatsoever so far. As always, Corsair provides a quality product. 2 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By J+J (Florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager GT 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB-64GBGT (Personal Computers) I purchased this drive just over a month ago & was really excited to get it. I use it to load up photos & audiobooks & bring to/from work. The drive initially worked great. Super fast, easy to access, etc.
A week ago, I plugged the drive into my home computer (where it has always worked fine in the past) and tried to add some files to it. I was told the drive was "write protected" - which meant I could access the files that were already on the drive, but I could not add any more to it. I was quite confused & scoured the net about this issue. After researching, I see that this is a common problem with Corsair flash products. Many customers with varying GB levels had this issue & posted out on their forums about it. I contacted Corsair about it & tried their methods & software to reformat the drive, but nothing works. Their only solution was to replace it, which I plan to do as it's under warranty. However, I'm reading online that even...Read more |
