The main cap does'nt stay on real well, It tends to slide off easily. Might lose it soon. The permanent cap comes off every time I remove the drive from the USB port, then its difficult to remove just the metal piece.

The drive itself works real good.

pros: good price, very small (about half the size of most thumb drives)
con: very slow. I get about 7megs/second using usb2. Other usb2 thumb drives I typically get about 15-19megs/second. Its not a huge deal for what ill use it for but could be an issue for some.

I do about 6-12 insert/removes a day (highly mobile), and after about 6 weeks, the dang blue plastic housing has detached from the metal body. Since this is a "portable" storage device, this problem is flatly unacceptable.

I'm going to try a warranty return, but I expect to be abused mercilessly by hp just to get a replacement that's likely to come apart like the first.

Other design issues--I also worry about the plastic ring (you thread the lanyard through it); this is a "fatigue" break waiting to happen. I actually prefer using a small ring instead of a string lanyard, but unintentional pressure on the ring could easily snap the ring. Finally, the cap is absolutely useless.
