Imation Clip 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive

Comment: It's a great flash drive folks. I use this thing daily and have had 0 trouble with this. It has a rubber case that works extremely well in protecting it from harm. Contrary to popular belief it's not as big as a Volkswagen, but it comes with a carabiner... size really shouldn't be a surprise. Also, a previous reviewer actually negatively reviewed this item because a marker wouldn't stay on the surface long enough....not really a performance related topic I look for in a media drive, but that's just me.
I hope they continue to use this style in larger capacity flash drives; I'll be first in line to buy it!

Comment: My brother gave me a 4gb flash drive after Thanks Giving of 2008. It fried couple months ago and kept asking to format everytime I pluged it into different system. I called Imation Technical Support (open at 9am PST) and talked to a rep named Lester. I was hoping I could get a replacement but from the noisy background Mr. Lester told me: "I have a bad news, we can't replace your flash drive because you don't have a receipt proving where I made the purchase from." He also suggested me having it fixed when I can buy a new one for less than 10USD. US economy was in crisis but I don't think fixing the USB flash drive is that cheap! Really dissappointed! If you don't believe me, read their warranty statement on their website!

Comment: This 8GB flash drive replaces a 1GB drive exactly like it after several years of use. The 1GB version took tons of abuse and never had a problem. I kept it on my keyring 24/7 even out on my boat under less than ideal conditions. I'm replacing it with this 8GB model because I need more storage space. The rubberized case holds the drive securely. I like the fact that you don't have to keep track of a tiny protective cap like most other drives. I also like the fact that your keys don't hang off the front of your computer when using the drive. The only negative thing about this flash drive is the size of the storage case and clip. They are pretty big. The photo looks deceptively small. I wear denim shorts to work and I'm a big guy, so the bulky size doesn't bother me. I can see where many people will find this drive too large to comfortably carry around in their pocket on a keyring. The black rubber case is 3 x 1 1/8 inches and 3/8 inch thick. The entire thing is 4 1/2 inches long including the metal clip. The actual flash drive is quite compact at 1 3/4 x 3/4 inch and 1/4 inch thick.

Comment: I was looking for a usb drive that could act as a keychain. I saw this and thought it might work. Brother, was I wrong. It's actually very big and bulky. It works great if you want to clip it to your bag but forget about keeping it in your pocket. The actual USB drive is pretty small (the gray part) but it's embedded in this big rubber case (the black part). USB drive works fine, about like any other.

Comment: I bought the same imation 528mb flash drive before I started school, but then realized I needed more capacity for all my projects that I was constantly working on between the dorm and library. This flash drive is extreamly easy to use and works when going from a Mac to PC. Only downside I was not aware of was when connecting the flash drive to my Mac it had to be directly connected to the computer and not though the side usb port on my keyboard. Overall it's a great product and I used it all the time with no problems.
