It is supposed to slide over the metal connector portion to protect it. This would be a good idea if there was a good indent to keep it in place. It would be a great idea if you could "lock" it into place. Instead, it simply slides down at the slightest touch and your drive is completely unprotected. Also no loop for a keychain, if you care. In short, I think there are better drives. The best part of this is drive is that Amazon seems to be offering it without the plastic package for low cost, but only good if you're not going to transport it beyond your desk (see above). 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful:  Does what it's supposed to do, good price, Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The good is that there's no cap to lose. The bad is that the slider sometimes is a bit difficult to slide with one hand, and it doesn't include a lanyard or wrist strap, despite having a slot in which to loop one. Fortunately I had a spare that I was able to use. These little things are easy to lose, and I always use a lanyard to wrist strap to keep track of them.
The performance is great, fully USB 2.0 compliant. I also like the activity LED is not some weird color or outrageously bright.
