Summary: Really, Really Fast -- then it stopped working after 3 days 2010-06-08
Comment: The Pretec Tango 266x was announced as the fastest flash drive in existence a few months ago -- something about optimizing the data transfer through all available means, which other drives don't bother to do. The net result from my perspective is that this thing transfers files an order of magnitude faster than my Lexar and PNY flash drives. I was initially quite pleased, not only with speed, but also with storage capacity and overall design. The casing is quite robust, with a bit of heft to it since it is made of metal rather than the usual plastic (though there's plastic underneath), and a compact design. Incidentally, the included software (TurboFlashUSB) is apparently useless, doesn't noticeably affect the speed as near as I can tell, plus it crashes whenever the drive is ejected; I uninstalled was happy without it.

Initially I posted a 5 star review, then a few days later the device stopped working except for a flashing LED, and the computer was unable to communicate with it. I have spent the past few weeks trying to contact the company I purchased it from (not Amazon, but the US distributor for the manufacturer), and have called several times and sent a couple of emails, without any response whatsoever. Considering the lack of support I can not recommend purchasing this item, no matter how well it performs when it is functioning.
