Before I bought this I asked if it would work with Windows 7. I was told YES by SanDisk technical support. Well, it does NOT work with Windows 7. The drivers are incompatible. I can use it on my friends computer using Windows XP. I can use it on my work computer using Windows Vista. But when I try using it in Windows 7 the drivers start to load, are found incompatible and then the drive is useless. I spent hours trying to talk this over with SanDisk technical support. They just ran me around in nonsensical circles. I'd tell them the Wondows 7 operating system has reported the drivers as incompatible and they would tell me the SanDisk drivers come pre-ploaded on the drive and will work with Windows 7 therefore there is no problem. I'd say, but it is not working and they would tell me to contact my computer manufacturer. I have the 64 GB version of this USB flash drive. It is kind of bulky compared to my other flash drives, which makes it less likely to be lost.
You can use the drive as a plain vanilla USB drive without using the included backup utility. The transfer rate is decent. I got about 5-6 mb/sec write rate when writing 10 gb of mp3 songs and lyrics files, which is a tad faster than my brand new Patriot USB 3.0 usb drive (connected to a usb 2.0 port though) that is supposed to be super fast.
The backup utility is also quite functional, you can choose which folders or files to backup, frequency, and how many versions to keep, which is more-choice and easier to use than some other backup utilities. The backed up files can be restored to the original computer or to another computer. You can also set a password to protect the backup files, but if you do this, you won't be able to edit the backup files on the usb drive directly, which is quite inconvenient. This version does...Read more

I brought this for backing up my important files....the password encryption is very strong that my files are safe & secure. The single button backup is very easy to use which doesn't need any further technical expertise to do the same...
