It is fast, it is backward compatible--and it actually surpasses my other two USB 3.0 drives by nearly two times the speed.
Add the price to the pile (a third less than I paid previously) and you have a massive winner here.

I transferred a 1.02 Gb file to this drive using both 2.0 and 3.0 ports on my new Dell laptop. The 2.0 port took 03:07, and the 3.0 port took 02:46. No significant difference, given the Win 7 64-bit processes running in the background.
When I used a Kensington 2.0 drive in the 2.0 port to transfer this same file, the transfer took 06:50. So...this 3.0 drive was about 2x faster than a 2.0 drive.
The cap is a joke--won't stay on the drive end, and no way to secure it anywhere else. I'm sure to lose it. Build quality is fair but, for the price, it's a fair bargain.

I do not have any USB 3.0 devices yet.
Reformatted to NTFS and tried to write a 2GB file to it via USB 2.0.
Got a 19MB/s write speed - about the same as the ChkFlsh tested it to be.
That's the best I've seen. At this price this is better value than most other USB 2.0 drives.
No issue with the cap - probably they fixed it or I've got a better unit.
