Transcend TS8GJFT3K JetFlash T3K 8GB USB Drive (Black)

I read on Gizmodo that this would work in that strange recessed proprietary USB slot on my HP Mini 1000. It fits perfectly and I am very happy to now have an additional 8GB of solid state storage at a very affordable price. Even nicer is the fact that the Mini doesn't see this as an external device so that annoying "choose how you'd like to download" dialogue box doesn't pop up in Windows (XP).

As far as speed is concerned, I don't care - it fits, it stores, it is TINY and cheap so I'm happy.

Now... where is the 16 GB version????

I accidently washed this thing.

It's so small, I couldn't feel it while checking for change etc.

Then I realized it [ the usb drive ] wasn't where I thought it was,

then I remembered, I had them in the cargo pockets of my shorts!!!!!

Which I just washed and dried....

All the data was still there and no damage to the drive at all, not bent or warped or banged up!!!!

I thought for sure the data would be gone, but it was all there!!!

This is not cheap flimsy plastic like the kingston dt is!!! I already had 2 break on me

they are only good to use in the house and don't carry them around.

The transcend can take a pretty good licking and keep on working.

If this thing suddenly dies, I'll post an update on it, but so far so good!

And I am a happy customer.

This is basically the HP mobile drive for HP Mini 1000. It's a perfect match if you need more capacity for the HP Mini 1000 SSD model. The HD model doesn't come with the USB port for HP mobile drive.
